Now providing Corneal Cross Linking
Dr. Abraham is one of the only board certified ophthalmologists in the area that provides the corneal cross linking, an FDA approved protocol for Keratoconus.
What is keratoconus?
Keratoconus, often referred to as ‘KC’, is an eye condition in which the cornea weakens and thins over time, causing the development of a cone-like bulge and optical irregularity of the cornea. Keratoconus can result in significant visual loss and may lead to corneal transplant in severe cases.
What are the symptoms of keratoconus?
A rare condition, keratoconus typically first appears in individuals who are in their late teens or early twenties, and may progress for 10-20 years, and then slow or stabilize. Each eye may be affected differently.
In the early stages of keratoconus, people might experience:
- blurring of vision
- distortion of vision
- increased sensitivity to light
What is corneal crosslinking?
Cross-linking is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure for the treatment of progressive keratoconus. iLink FDA-approved cross-linking combines the use of prescription eye drops, Photrexa® Viscous (riboflavin 5’-phosphate in 20% dextran ophthalmic solution), Photrexa® (riboflavin 5’-phosphate ophthalmic solution), and ultra-violet A (UVA) light from the KXL® system to create new collagen cross-links and leads to the stiffening of the cornea. The goal of the procedure is to stiffen the cornea to slow or prevent further progression of the condition and preserve your vision.

Patient experience
Dr. Abraham is by far the best healthcare professional I have ever dealt with! I was referred to Dr. Abraham by my primary care physician for dry/red eyes and potential pterygium removal (growth of raised tissue on the conjunctiva, that extends onto the cornea). The mere thought of eye surgery made me feel anxious until I had my first consultation with Dr. Abraham. From the minute I walked into Abraham Eye Center I felt confident that I was in good hands. The staff was pleasant to interact with and the office is clean with modern equipment. After being assessed and discussing treatment options for dry/red eye Dr. Abraham determined that removing my pterygium is the best treatment for me. I agreed to surgery and 2 months later I was in the operating room. Dr. Abraham made the surgery feel like a complete breeze. He checked in on me moments before surgery and answered all of my last minute questions which allowed me to feel absolutely relaxed and calm. He played a great mix of music in the operating room which definitely helped take the focus off the surgery. Today, I’m two months post op and my red eye is almost completely gone, my vision is great and the weird looking growth on my cornea is gone! The surgery was a total success. Thank you to everyone on Dr. Abraham’s team both office and operation staff. I recommend Dr. Abraham with no hesitation.

January 12, 2024Dr. Abraham is a wonderful and brilliant ophthalmologist. I would give him more than 5 stars if I could. He truly cares about his patients and has excellent bedside manner. His staff is warm, friendly, and welcoming. His office is very clean and up to date with the newest testing and diagnostic equipment in his field. The office is also easy to find and has plenty of parking, which is important. Dr. Abraham is confident and also very good at explaining his diagnosis, treatment plan, and follow up. He does not rush you out the door and makes sure to answer all of your questions. He is very thorough with his examination. As a patient you feel that he truly is invested in helping you. I am very thankful for his care and could not recommend him more to anyone else considering becoming a patient.

December 12, 2023I have had eye complications my whole life! I came into Dr. Abrahams office with ulcers in my eyes and abrasions to my cornea. I have also had poor vision my whole life. He recommended PRK and after a week I have already seen significant improvement. The pain was very minimal and the process very quick and easy. Dr. Abraham and his staff were all very professional and very helpful. I highly recommend them to anyone for any eye care needs!
